ROMO 2, Week 10
More activity off the board than on still, but Big News!
This week, ROMO the WolfBoy made this list, and is pictured central to it!
As John Freeman reports on his Down the Tubes website for such news and information, “Comics Laureate Bobby Joseph has compiled his 2026-2027 Reading List, which Arts Council England have distributed to their connected libraries, and CILIP: the library and information association, as well as their literature team.
“This year’s list is two-fold,” says Bobby, “the first being that it is focused predominantly on UK Comic creators (much of the list is as diverse as I could make it), the second being that it is more focused towards the National Year of Reading 2026.”
So yeah, there’s that: my sincere wish is that this should win ROMO a greater level of attention from UK libraries at the very least. Big THANKS to Bobby (and John!)
As John goes on to say: “We have included Bookshop.org Affiliate Links to the books listed where available, supporting local bookshops; or a link to the publisher web store” on his site report, so use that for your own reference if you care to. Here:

On that same score, it’s only a week to go now until the Official Retail Launch of the copies of ROMO Book One that make up the balance of my crowdfunded print run.
To mark this date (of February 19th) we are having a Launch Party at Gosh! Comics:
Come on down if you can, as everybody is welcome!
This launch into availability for general sale online and in the comics and bookshops across the land who order copies is a big deal for me - HUGE! - as it is the Public Reception of and Response to the book that will be the ultimate test. Will people who have no idea what it is or who I am be attracted by it, pick it up, and even BUY IT??
erk alors!
If they don’t, then that may well spell the end for ROMO’s adventures, and me! So…
HELPMABOAB!
With just one more week to go it is CRUCIAL at this point that the book receives as strong a launch as possible, and I could really do with YOUR HELP to make it so.
Can You Write A Review of ROMO the WolfBoy??
As long or as short as you like, and honest thoughts (it doesn’t have to be a glowing report, simply what you liked or didn’t like about it) - doesn’t matter if you’ve only seen it here on Substack, or not read all of it - any response you may have counts!
For the most seen window onto the world, that’s probably best done here:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Romo-WolfBoy-ILYA/dp/1914224442/ref=sr_1_1?
… as follows:
Scroll down to “Customer reviews”
Review this product
Share your thoughts with other customers
and hit the button below that which reads: “Write a customer review”
Do It NOW - I mean, just look at his little face: how could you possibly resist?!
If you can also bug your local bookshop or comic shop into stocking it, even better! (and if you have your copy already, take it along and show them it to help convince!!)
If it is easier for you to buy a copy online, then why not consider uk.bookshop.org - it is listed on there too:
https://uk.bookshop.org/p/books/romo-the-wolfboy-ilya/7968271?
Bookshop.org is an online bookshop with a mission to financially support local, independent bookshops. It serves as an ethical alternative to Amazon, allowing users to buy books directly from independent shops, which receive 30% of the cover price from sales made through their specific pages.
If you’ve followed progress this far then I’m really grateful for your attention, especially when there’s Just So Much competing for it. Even MORE grate if you were among the backers of last year’s Kickstarter campaign to make the book a reality, in print, as the handsome hardback it is. You know who you are, because everyone who backed it has their name in it!
If you haven’t yet got YOUR COPY, please consider ordering yourself one.
Otherwise, do feel free to carry on reading the weekly progress reports, process hints and tips, and behind-the-scenes peeks posted every week here. See you next time! X
